I had a close friend named Jane. She committed suicide about a year ago. The reason why is because she suffered depression from both her parents and people at school. As for me, I was considered her best and only friend. Why? Because I always took up for her, all day, everyday and I would could always keep a promise and could make her laugh. She was too scared to see a therapist even when I tried to push her to see one. Anyway, I had a dream that went like this...

I was at school and at my locker.Everything was calm and normal until I heard a voice from two nearby girls. One, with a long brown ponytail, said- "Yea, she had a knife, I think." The other, with short blonde hair, responded saying- " Oh well, no one talked to her...she was so weird, like, she's that type of person that no one notices...just sits in a corner and stuff." When I heard that, I did get mad and walked up to them saying- " Well, maybe if you would've actually NOTICED and talked positive to her, instead of talking negative, maybe you could've found out why she was so "weird" and you two are great examples as to why she did that to herself, and Jane had way more sense than you could probably ever have. She was the smartest girl I've ever met, and she didn't have anyone to see it, except me!" It was silence after that. The two girls just looked at each other, the blonde muttered- "Umm.." and they walked off. I turned around to go back to my locker, and Jane appeared and gave me a hug, crying. The dream ended after that.

I feel that sometimes we dream about people we were really close with just because we miss so much. My best friend and I didn't part on the best of terms and I haven't spoken to her in 6 years but I dream about her quite often. Sorry about Jane. :(

HI Solara Aensland. If this were my dream it's doing lots of things all-at-once. On one crucial level, it shows me sticking up for Jane and she sees that and shows me that she does. It's as if we're making contact in the dream, even though she's "departed" and this feels like it helps us both. On another level, the dream wants me to 'get' that death and suicide (at least in the dream world) are metaphors of deep change and with suicide, it's a chosen and willful version. So I'd ask myself if the dream might be suggesting that I'm up for a profound change and transformation within my own self that clearly relates to my connection with Jane and a sense of advocacy for folks who are seen as "different", but which also applies to me and how I am growing and learning too?

id say its a safety valve dream letting you express your anger in a safe way. the knife could represent her being stabbed in the back as they say when people cut you down behind your back.. when jane appeared it couldve been her way of thanking you for being there for her. Im so sorry to hear about your friend i know what its like ive had depression fr 25 years and i tried suicide its like a disease to some people as its always there it can draw your energy and life force and make you believe you have nothing to live for. say a prayer for her or light a candle in her memory thats what i would do God bless you and your friend Jane...John

I think that was a very sweet dream, and it probably means that you're still ready to take up blows for her. It's a symbol that you're still clearly her best friend.<3

Sounds like you made jane so happy that you stood up for her. Even though she has passed she came to you in a dream to thank you for what you did. She must be at peace. God bless you

I had a friend that suicided. I felt guilty like I should've helped her more. I wonder if what you said to those girls in your dream was what you wished you told her while she was alive. The locker makes me think of a locked place, maybe where you hide feelings or thoughts of her. At least she heard you in your dream. I'm sorry for your loss, it must have been wonderful to hug her in your dream.

One of my best friends committed suicide 2 years ago. It was devastating. Every day I would do or think of something that would remind me of her. More than a year after she committed suicide, I dreamed with her... She was plain gorgeous and I was able to say "I love you" to her. Next day I woke up and felt in peace and relaxed.

So sad. Looks like she truly wanted to come back and thank you for openly taking up for her while she was living and after and not keeping things locked in.
